Meet Vicki
My name is Vicki Denk. I retired from WaterOne, where I worked as a Senior Financial Analyst in all aspects of Financial Planning for 30 years. I have a Bachelor of Arts degree in English and a minor in Secondary Education from the University of St. Mary, Leavenworth, Kansas, and a Master of Arts Business degree from Webster University, St Louis, Missouri.
At WaterOne, the responsibilities included preparing annual operating and capital budgets, managing five-year planning processes, keeping funding models for master plan projects and transmission and distribution systems, reviewing and updating key performance indicators (KPIs), and developing cost standards and overhead allocations. My favorite responsibility was the review and update of the annual Cost of Service model that calculated annual water rates by customer class and new customer System Development Charges. I was skilled at writing the documentation of the analysis and findings of the various financial models for management, procedure manuals, and budget documents for publication.
Prior to WaterOne, I served for four years as Deputy City Clerk for the City of Mission, Kansas. That was where my knowledge and passion for finance began. I learned how the city funds, budgets, and communicates its services.
My interest in local government and community service led me to join county leadership programs and serve two terms as Treasurer of the Friends of the Johnson County Library, earning the Daily Points of Light Award. I am currently serving my second year on the Library’s Foundation Board.
