Johnson County Library strives to provide a collection that mirrors the changing needs of our community, including traditional books as well as a growing collection of e-resources. We believe this collection should be rich in ideas, information and viewpoints from all lifestyles and each side of a topic without restrictions on access.
A collection should also provide access in a format that avoids duplication and speaks to the needs of the patrons. Purchasing collections include additional services available through internet and database access, inter-library loan and a number of other resources. The American Library Association endorses and upholds these principles of intellectual freedom as outlined in the appendix of our collection development policy.
